Eugene City Council meeting TONIGHT!

Plus resources and much-needed aid for families directly affected by the ICE Age

We need you to show up TONIGHT at the Eugene City Council meeting. Signing up for public comment is from 7:00-7:30pm. Meeting starts soon thereafter. The three major issues in the fight against fascism in Eugene and Springfield right now are:

1) THE BIG ONE: ICE kidnapping our friends and neighbors

2) Flock cameras in Lane County

The ICE Problem

Val Hoyle issued this statement condemning the Lane County ICE kidnappings that occurred on Nov. 5th.

Other signatories include “…Lane County Commissioners Heather Buch, Laurie Trieger, and Pat Farr, Eugene Mayor Kaarin Knudson, Eugene City Councilors Lyndsie Leech, Matt Keating, Jennifer Yeh, Greg Evans, and Randy Groves, Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon, and Springfield City Councilor Kori Rodley…”

The statement says, in part, “Every Oregonian and every person in the United States, regardless of immigration status, is entitled to the full protections guaranteed by the Constitution. We will use all tools at our disposal as representatives of this community to ensure that those protections are upheld for the individuals detained today and for any Oregonian subjected to unjust or unlawful enforcement actions by ICE.”

The question, Eugene, is, “Is this good enough?” Whatever your thoughts, bring them to the city council meeting TONIGHT at 7pm

Ways to help the families affected by ICE kidnappings

Lane County put aside $200,000 for families in need. Those that need resources can email LCHSinfo@lanecountyor.gov or call 541-393-4672

There’s also the Oregon Worker Relief Fund which, among other things, helps with providing legal services to Oregon families impacted by ICE terror.

HOW TO JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST ICE

Sign up to be a volunteer for PIRC and be sure to check the box for Migra Watch training. This will allow you to get connected with the rapid response “ICE Reporting” text thread in your area to alert you to CONFIRMED ICE activity. That way, once alerted, you can go to the specified location and record and monitor.

CLDC “Right to Protest ICE” virtual training from 6:00-7:30pm on Tuesday Nov. 25.
