Volunteer for Anti-Fascist, Anti-Corruption Politicians

Billionaires and Corporations have a choke hold on power.

They push fascist narratives to keep us infighting and keep real solutions off the ballots.

We need to cut off their sources of political power to make all of our actions, and our votes, more impactful.

What you can do Right Now:

Find a politician running in the primaries who you like, who has anti-fascist and anti-corruption priorities, and donate to and/or volunteer for them.

Primaries are IMPORTANT - in Oregon, for example, whoever wins the Democratic state primaries typically wins state elections. So in our state, the real agenda is set in the primaries, not the general election.

For the Eugene/Springfield area, we recommend primarying out Val Hoyle. Alternatives to Hoyle in the Democratic primary are Boris Wiedenfeld-Needham and Melissa Bird.

  • Hoyle accepts corporate PAC contributions, voted to table the 2025 Articles of Impeachment against Donald Trump, and her words and actions passively condone Israel’s fascist, genocidal starvation campaign against the Palestinian people.

  • For the Democratic Party, Our Revolution’s Endorsements are a good place to start. You don’t need to be in a candidate’s state to donate or volunteer for them, and they need all the help they can get in fighting against corporate and dark money. Learn more at OurRevolution.com.

  • We don’t know of such a resource for the Republican party, but would love to hear from you if you have a suggestion!

You can also support anti-corruption legislation and campaign reform that gives more power to the people, with donation dollars and/or your volunteer time:

  • STAR Voting, which has been growing steam in Oregon, is trying to implement a voting system that would disempower the two-party monopoly in our current system. Check them out, donate, and volunteer at starvoting.org.

  • Represent.Us helps pass state and local anti-corruption legislation. Currently their campaigns are centered around calling and emailing Congress, so if you want to work to get specific legislation passed, get in touch with them and they will let you know of opportunities to do just that: represent.us/volunteer/

Background

The billionaire class is destroying our society. They, along with multibillion-dollar corporations, funnel money into the election campaigns of our politicians. In order to keep the money flowing, those politicians then act in the benefit of their donors, not their constituents.

This problem was made worse in 2010 with Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and SpeechNow.org v. FEC, when the Supreme Court decided that corporations have the same First-Amendment free-speech rights as individuals, that they can spend unlimited money on independent political broadcast content, and that there should be no cap to how much individuals, corporations, or other entities can contribute toward “independent” political speech organizations. This gave rise to Super PACs, which can raise and spend unlimited money to help promote political campaigns, as long as they are not officially coordinating with that campaign.

The result? Money drives the narrative. The rich and powerful decide what gets promoted in the media. They have unlimited power to buy influence, and therefore elections.

They spend unlimited amounts of money to sow discord and keep us divided, blaming our immigrant and trans neighbors, rather than the moneyed interests who are sucking the lifeblood from our society. They keep us fighting over things that don’t matter, so that we don’t focus on the things that do.
